Senator Wielechowski offered Amendment No. 1 : Page 1, line 1, following "Act": Insert "relating to vehicle registration fees for members of the Alaska National Guard; and" Page 1, following line 3: Insert a new bill section to read: "* Section 1. AS 28.10.411 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: (g) A person who presents satisfactory proof of current membership in the Alaska National Guard is entitled to an exemption from the registration fee required under this section for one vehicle subject to registration under AS 28.10.421(b)(1), (2), or (5). An exemption may not be granted except upon written application for the exemption on a form prescribed by the department." Page 1, line 4: Delete "Section 1" Insert "Sec. 2" 2014-04-14 Senate Journal Page 2452 Senator Wielechowski moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 1. Senator Coghill objected. Senator Wielechowski moved and asked unanimous consent to withdraw Amendment No. 1. Without objection, Amendment No. 1 was withdrawn. Senator Gardner offered Amendment No. 2 : Page 1, line 1, following "spouses": Insert "or same-sex partners" Page 2, line 1, following "spouse" in both places: Insert "or same-sex partner" Page 2, line 3: Delete "or spouse" Insert "or the member's spouse or same-sex partner" Page 2, line 4, following "jurisdiction;": Insert "to claim an exemption for a same-sex relationship under this paragraph, a member shall verify the same-sex relationship on a form provided by the department;" Senator Gardner moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 2. Senator Coghill objected. Senator French moved and asked unanimous consent to be added as a cosponsor on Amendment No. 2. Without objection, it was so ordered. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 2 be adopted?" Senators Fairclough, McGuire, Bishop, Giessel, Egan, Meyer, Wielechowski, Micciche, Dyson moved and asked unanimous consent to be shown as cross sponsors on the bill. Without objection, it was so ordered.
